Activities and Learning Themes

At No Name School, learning is not confined to textbooks or classrooms—it is an experience that unfolds through play, stories, practice, and reflection. Each Saturday session is carefully crafted around meaningful themes that introduce children to Bhutanese culture, Buddhist values, and universal life skills in joyful and age-appropriate ways.

Our sessions are structured yet flexible, allowing children to explore, express, and engage through a range of activities:

Key Weekly Activities

  • Morning Circle: A grounding time with simple prayers, offerings, and greetings
  • Storytelling: Folk tales, parables, and historical narratives to inspire values and imagination
  • Creative Expression: Drawing, role play, music, and movement tied to the weekly theme
  • Mindful Practices: Breathing, silent walking, and gratitude reflections
  • Cultural Games & Songs: Rhymes, dances, and activities rooted in Bhutanese traditions
  • Group Sharing: Time for children to reflect on what they’ve learned and share with peers

Learning Themes

Our activities are guided by thematic units such as:

  • Bhutan
  • Ahimsa (Non-violence)
  • Bodhicitta (Compassionate Heart)
  • Cause and Effect (Karma)
  • Impermanence
  • Mindfulness
  • Taking Refuge
  • Harmony and Living Together
  • Lingdro (King Gesar Epic)

Each theme is delivered in a developmentally appropriate way, with younger children learning through play and sensory exploration, while older children engage in deeper discussions and group tasks.

These sessions not only offer knowledge but aim to plant seeds of wisdom, character, and connection that will grow with each child throughout their life.
